When Tourism Media directors Matt and Nick started the company more than 10 years ago, they made the decision to hire only the best in their field, no matter where they live. That commitment means that, today, TM have a high-calibre team of photographers, writers, editors and digital experts who are based all over the world.
Although modern technology makes international collaboration easy, there is nothing quite like catching up in real life, so we were delighted last Friday when Nancy, one of our key writers and editors, dropped into our Brisbane Head Office for lunch.
American-based Nancy has been working with TM for more than 2 years but this was her first time meeting the Australian team face-to-face.
“It’s great to finally be able to put faces to the names of people I’ve only met online before,” she said. “And the macadamia and mango salad was out of this world.”
No matter where they live, everyone who works for TM has a passion for travel, and Nancy is no exception.
She and her husband Michael are currently in the middle of a 9 month-long trip around the world. So far, she has spent time in the US, Hong Kong and New Zealand and is heading for the Middle East, France and Greece before heading home to the States. According to Nancy, one of the best things about working with TM is that she can do her job from anywhere.
Nancy’s eye for detail and passion for grammar makes her a force to be reckoned with as an editor, but she originally trained as an engineer and has had many jobs in her career, including teaching and landscaping.
Nancy is also writing a book offering great ways for retirees to keep a flexible income and stay in the workforce, even while they are enjoying their adventures.
Bon voyage Nancy – we hope to see you again soon.
